A unique event in the Clubs programme for 1961 was the open race for Silhouette Class craft which took place Sunday 8th Oct at Hullbridge on Crouch. An open invitation had been extended to all Silhouette owners and a total of 11 entries were received. Owing to sickness only 8 craft crossed the starting line at 8.00 a.m. with the wind up and down the river. Excellent times were recorded over the long course and a keen bit of comfortable days sailing was enjoyed by all participants.
