265 Ferry Road, Hullbridge

265 Ferry Road.

From early 1960's the shop was known as Townsend's Newsagents.

Advert in Local Review Newspaper 1964

This is an advert posted in the local press at the time of the Hullbridge Carnival 1964

It was owned by Vera Townsend and situated just after the parade of shops at the bottom end of Ferry Road. It was one of two shops in a single structure situated on the left hand side just before Pooles Lane.

Some time in 19? the shops were closed and converted into houses. It can be seen in the recent photo of the building that a column of bricks divided the two shops.Either side of this column was the shops entrances and each shop front had one large window. The flats above the shops were the residences of the owners.

Photo shot from Pooles Lane of 263/5 Ferry Road in 2008.The shops have been converted into residences with 265 is the nearest half of the building in the front of the photo

The properties in 2008 are homes.
